River fishing in Thailands most pristine jungle! We penetrate as far as you can go into the jungle along the numerous rivers, in search of our main target species Hampala Barb (also known as Jungle Perch) and the Thai Mahseer. This is Thailands finest fly-fishing and lure casting action in gin clear jungle rivers.  

To target the  Hampala Barb and the hard fighting Thai Mahseer in Thailands most beautiful jungle rivers in khao Sok National Park is a fantastic experiance. When fishing these rivers casting accuracy is important as the fish likes to habitat snaggy areas such as over-hanging vegetation, weedy areas, sunken logs and often stays very close to the bank. They are very territorial and will often strike at anything that goes near them. The rivers are surrounded by mountains of over 1000 meters and dense rainforest with amazing wildlife, bird life, flora, waterfalls, wild elephants, otters, monkeys, water buffalos, bears, leopards and nothing less than the worlds largest flower (Rafflesia; that reaches over 80 cm in diameter). These are only a few of the unique things that can be experienced in this small piece of Paradise. If fly-fishing is your thing, you will love these rivers, there are 3 medium size rivers and 5 smaller streams we fish in. We use class 5-7 fly equipments here with floating lines, if you don't have your own fly equipment we have a couple of sets you can use for free. Many times you can spot the fish in the clear river and to cast your fly to them is great sport. You will be amazed by the first run of a Thai Mahseer. Fly fishing for Thai Mahseer is similar to fly fishing for Trout in rivers or streams, the Mahseer takes streamers, wet flies, nymphs and big dry flies and a stealthy approach is very important. If you prefer spin fishing, silver or gold colored spoons like ABU Toby works well and also small spinners like Mepps Aglia or Vibrax. Berkley Gulp is also very effective here. Undeniably, the Mahseer is one of the fiercest fighting freshwater game fish in existence. Pound for pound it had unparalleled strength and endurance. The Thai Mahseer are hard-hitting, incredibly-strong fighters that attain weights in excess of 40-pounds. They are, in short, South East Asia's hyped-up version of a 'tropical trout.' And while they do have a transitory likeness to the carp and the barbell of the English waters, the similarity soon ends in the turbid waters of the SE. Asian rivers. 

The jungle base camp consists of basic floating raft houses made from locally obtained sustainable materials that blend in with the environment. There is no TV or air-conditioning, and this fishing experience is targeted at adventurous anglers who are looking for the REAL jungle experience and are prepared to do without luxury home comforts for a few days! The beauty of the location at the base camp has to be seen to be believed, and waking up at dawn with the sounds of the jungle around you and the eerie cries from the Gibbons is an experience that will touch your very soul !

After the days fishing, its time for a great meal, and to relax in the unique atmosphere of the jungle at night. The area is nearly free of mosquitoes (malaria free area) and the night time temperature is very pleasant. Even considering the remote location, the food is excellent, with a variety of authentic Thai dishes made to suit western palates, and there is always more than enough to go around to say the least!
